The institute is formally known as “Food Craft Institute” and upgraded as State Institute of Hotel Management, Udaipur.

Journey of the institute

The story of the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), Udaipur, is one of growth, transformation and excellence in hospitality education.
The journey began in 1989 with the establishment of the Food Craft Institute (FCI) near Chetak Circle, Udaipur, a location rich in historical significance, named after Maharana Pratap’s legendary horse, Chetak. In its early days, FCI focused on providing specialized training programs for renowned hotels and restaurants, alongside its regular hospitality courses.
A significant milestone came in 2002, when the institute relocated to Hiran Magri, Sector-14, marking the beginning of a new chapter. This move brought with it affiliation with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Noida, solidifying its position in the field of hospitality education. With this transition, the institute expanded its academic offerings, introducing diploma courses and strengthening its foundation in professional training.
The year 2019 was a defining moment in the institute’s journey. Embracing growth and new possibilities, it was renamed the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), Udaipur. In the same year, the institute launched its first batch of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Hospitality & Hotel Administration (H&HA), marking its transition into a full-fledged center for higher hospitality education.
Today, SIHM Udaipur stands as a prestigious government institute, affiliated with NCHMCT, Noida, in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. With a dedicated and experienced faculty, the institute not only imparts academic knowledge but also fosters personal and professional development, ensuring that its students are well-equipped to excel in the dynamic world of hospitality.
From its humble beginnings to its present stature, SIHM Udaipur continues to evolve, striving for excellence in hospitality education and shaping the future of aspiring hospitality professionals.
